After four consecutive days of zipping through San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Disneyland, we are exhausted. Even the kids are tired and there were no complaints when we decided to take a day off before hitting one last Disney park tomorrow.

Panda chillin'

So we’re chillin’ today, just like this giant sleeping panda… up in a tree.

This morning at breakfast, Dude and I wondered how on earth were we able to do six days at Disney only two years ago. It’s only been four days of exploring the amusement parks. Surely we haven’t aged so much that we can’t keep up. Then reality hit. Oh, right. Never mind the driving, camping and hiking we’ve been doing the previous two weeks. Duh. But we’re having so much fun!

While at Disneyland, I noticed that I hadn’t been pulling my phone out much nor have I been carrying my camera around. Taking photos of the man-made Matterhorn, hoodoos and Grand Canyon just didn’t appeal to me. Our God is such an awesome creator and we have been so blessed to see all that we have with our own eyes. No matter how realistic man can make the replicas, nothing compares to the real thing. At Crater Lake, I overheard a tourist utter, “How can anyone look out at this and say there is no God?”

Hopefully, over the last few weeks we have shown the kids how amazing it is to experience something for real versus watching something on a screen. Perhaps we have negated all that we’ve been teaching through all the special effects and experiences at the amusement parks. I hope not.

We are heading into our fourth week! So much exploring left to do.

  • Flo, I know what you mean about not wanting to photograph at Disney. God’s creations are truly beautiful and the outdoors smell so wonderful too. We are so blessed. And just remember, you have the right to be tired! Where are you off to next? Kathy
