Making simple yet delicious meals at home is easier than most people think. In about 30 minutes, you can make this plate of flavourful ribs for dinner.
Generally, I like to cook the ribs in the pressure cooker but I think these ribs are pretty good pan-fried and it gives us the texture we like… not quite fall off the bone but tender with a bit of a tug. If you want them to be softer, then cook them for an extra 10-15 minutes.
Makes 3-4 servings
Ingredients
1 rack pork back or side ribs
2 tablespoons avocado oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
8 sprigs cilantro, minced
1 stalk green onion, minced
For the Sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
¾ cup water
Ingredients
- Remove the silver skin from the back ribs and cut into individual bone segments.
- In a large non-stick frying pan, add oil and heat on medium high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the ribs. Brown each side.
- Push the ribs to the sides and add garlic. Stir fry for 30 seconds, until fragrant. Add the sauce. Bring the sauce to the simmer and turn the heat down to low. Cover and let simmer for about 20-25 minutes until the ribs are tender. Flip the ribs once in the middle of cooking.
- Remove the cover. Let the liquid reduce until the sauce is syrupy and glossy. Turn the ribs so that they are evenly covered in the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and green onions. Serve with rice.
