Last night we received an urgent email to pray for our dear friend who was rushed to emergency with what looked like a stroke. As his wife and sister talked to the doctors, they were told they can try to save his life but that the hemorrhaging in his brain was severe and if they can save his life, he will stay in this state at best, paralyzed on one side with slurred speech. After his wife signed all the necessary forms, he was rushed into the operating room where he was to endure four hours of brain surgery.
Three weeks ago this same friend, a 39 year old father of three, was diagnosed with testicular cancer which had spread to his lungs. He had the tumour successfully removed and was receiving chemotherapy. After some complications, additional surgeries and extended stay in the hospital, he was finally released to go home just a couple of days ago. And then this happened.
Around 20 of us gathered to pray with the family at the hospital last night, 40 or more gathered to pray at his church and I am sure hundreds more prayed in their homes. We prayed for a miracle. We prayed that his life would be spared. We prayed that he would be healed.
The surgery took only two hours instead of four. It was successful and the surgeon is hopeful that he will make a full recovery! They were able to remove all of the mass detected on the CT scan. Shortly after coming out of surgery, he was able to move his left side and could speak coherently. Not only is he alive, but he is well beyond our hopes!
Last night was a testament to God’s power and might. When many gather and call upon His name, He not only hears our prayers, He answers them.
I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” ~ Matthew 18:19-20
He still has a long road to full recovery and there are still chemotherapy treatments ahead but for now, we are rejoicing in this victory! Praise the LORD!
