Bryce Canyon was spectacular! Such incredible structures formed by the thawing and refreezing of ice called hoodoos. The climb down into the hoodoos was much too long and steep to climb up and down for the kids so we’ll have to do that when they get older. And yes… There will be a next time.

After camping at several sites now, we’ve decided that North Campground at Bryce Canyon is our favourite. No bugs, warmest nights (least temperature fluctuation), trails right off the site so we don’t have to drive to see the canyon. Maybe it’s because we’ve finally found our groove? It has also been nice to stay for three nights so that our efforts of setting up lasts a little longer before we have to take down again.

One thing I found particularly interesting was the number of people visiting from France. We heard more French speaking tourists than any other language. Dude even nicknamed the park: Parc de Bryce Nationale.

The princess enjoyed quiet time reading and drawing while the boy enjoyed building structures for the bugs he found when we were not on our explorations. This is an amusement park with a zip line, maze and roller coaster. Every meal time we were visited by a squirrel (that looked like a chipmunk) that we nicknamed Fatso because he seemed plumper than the rest of the chipmunks we saw in the area.

The kids have been so great throughout our trip… waking up with us for sunrise, hiking steep hills and helping with set up, tear down and meal preparations. This week will be their reward as we visit Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Disneyland!

We can hardly believe it’s been two weeks since we left Vancouver. It has gone by so quickly and we’ve seen so much. And you would think our appetites would be full but instead we’re already thinking about our next road trip and where we would go. Who’s coming with us?!
