We are now into our final week of the instalumtrip. I can hardly believe we are into our sixth week. As mentioned in my last post on San Francisco, we decided to spend a few more days in the city and take fewer days to get home. It has been such a blessing to stay those extra days as there were several friends we were not able to connect with earlier.

It’s bittersweet as we head into our last few days on the road. We are exhausted. We look forward to sleeping in our own beds. The kids miss playing with their toys and are exciting about going back to school. And we can’t wait to see our cat who has been completely spoiled by my cousin and her husband. But we also don’t want the adventure to end.

I asked Dude why didn’t we think of doing this sooner. He quickly reminded me that a year ago, our lives were different. We were unsure of where we were headed. We were just getting started on Instagram (which means we were not yet connected to many of the people we met on this trip; see online vs offline). Overall, we were less adventurous. Now Dude wants to buy a camper, hit the road and homeschool the kids… right… like that’s going to happen!

With our remaining three days, we still have the Northern California coast, Oregon coast and Olympic National Park in Washington left on our list of places to see. Ambitious? Maybe just a tad. But we can try!
