This bridge is more significant to us than you know. Dude proposed to me on that bridge. Poor guy was so nervous about popping the question and fumbling the ring right off the bridge while I was completely distracted by the amount of time we had left in the parking meter (those who live in SF know exactly what I’m talking about… darn meter maids). Somehow, he managed to ask, I finally responded (after being in shock) and we made it back to the car without a parking ticket! Woot!

We have been in San Francisco for over a week now and have decided to extend our stay here until next Tuesday. Our love for San Francisco, the closure of the Bay Bridge over Labour Day weekend and Dude catching the stomach bug are all reasons why we thought we should chill for a few more days before making the trek back to Vancouver.

San Francisco

Having lived here for four years during the tech boom and bust, we feel very much at home here. We have our usual restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops that we regularly frequent and friends and family we hang with each time we visit. But this time is different. This time we have Instagram. The foggy photos above were taken on Mount Davidson which we have driven by multiple times over the years but we only went up there for the first time this trip.

San Francisco

We have gone to parts of the city we’ve never been before…

and have seen some spectacular views…

and we have met some amazing people along the way.

The plan is still to continue up the Oregon Coast on the way home but we will only be spending a couple of days on the road instead of the preplanned route of ten days. We hope we will still be able to capture some of the sights along the way.

San Francisco

The trip has been way more exhausting than we expected so we are thankful we can spend the time in San Francisco to rest before our trip home. Initially I had planned only up to this point so I am grateful that our time is now more flexible and for our family who have opened their home to us.
