Back in the day, a bunch of us would regularly go out for wing nights. Only 25 cents a wing! I have no idea how much it costs now but our little family can easily polish off 3lbs of wings for dinner. With so many kinds to choose from, these are probably our favourite.
Sticky Chicken Wings
Ingredients
3lbs chicken wings separated
2 eggs lightly beaten
1 cup flour
salt & pepper
1/4 cup butter melted
1/4 cup grape seed oil
Sauce
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
3T soy sauce
3T water
1/2t garlic powder
salt & pepper
Instructions
1. Move the oven rack to the top rack and preheat the broiler.
2. Put flour and salt & pepper into a large plastic resealable bag.
3. In small batches, coat wings in egg and then dredge in flour mixture and place on a sheet pan.
4. Combine melted butter with grape seed oil and baste each wing liberally.
5. Broil wings for 8 minutes and turn the wings over. Broil for another 6 minutes.
6. Meanwhile combine sauce ingredients.
7. Once wings are done, turn oven down to 350 degrees F. Pour the sauce over all the wings and cook in the oven on a lower rack.
8. Cook for 30-45 minutes, turning frequently until the sauce is sticky.
Notes: I use this broiling method every time I make wings as it gives it a nice crispy texture without deep frying. I also like to use grape seed oil as it has a higher burn temperature than butter. By combining the two, the result is a buttery flavour without burning.
Hope you and your family enjoy this as much as we do!
The broiling sounds like a yummy idea, will try during the NCAA tourney TV watching this month!
Hi Betty! How did they turn out?
Glad to find this baked not fried wing recipe and your baked fried chicken recipe. My family loves fried chicken but I hate frying things. Will definitely try. I just found you on YouTube and bought two o your books on Amazon 😉 great to have new dinner ideas.
