story

Dude is always encouraging me to tell my story. He sees a story in everything which is great! He always has something to talk about and he helps me to see how my story is relevant.

I wouldn’t categorize myself as a writer. It doesn’t come naturally and it’s not easy for me to put my thoughts down in words. But I believe what Dude says is true. We all have a story that needs to be told. And who doesn’t love a good story?

We were seated at a crowded café yesterday and two ladies sat down across from us at the long communal table. It was obvious they were long time friends, catching up on the going ons in their busy lives. They were telling each other their stories and it made me wonder. How many times have they had to retell that same story? And each time they retell it, the story only goes as far as that individual they tell. Unless, of course, that person tells others, which would then be gossip. And I’m not talking about gossip…I digress.

Some things are too personal to share. Some things make us look foolish. Some things may seem trivial.

But some of those things can inspire others, be an encouragement, show others that they are not alone.

And so, my hope is that as I share my story with as many people as I possibly can through this little blog. I want to impact others in a positive way. I want to stimulate conversation. I want to inspire others.

Read The Power of Story on Dude’s blog. Perhaps it will inspire you to tell your story too.

“I am taking a creative writing class at the moment and my professor has the same mentality as @dudelum . She wholeheartedly believes that everyone has a story to tell, which after taking this class is most definitely true! She has told us that everybody has their struggle story or their success story and that everyday as she walks around, she is amazed by the fact that behind every individual there is a different story. As some people read their story in class, she told us all that this person is giving a gift to everybody because not always do people get to tell their story and it served as inspiration and motivation for many people in the class to hear others story.”
